THE GARAGE STANDARD
Good information.
Good company.
TE VIDEOS is a place to understand the work and help the next person. DIYers, newer technicians, and experienced technicians are equally welcome.
Community rules
- Respect every skill level. Beginners, DIYers, and experienced technicians are equally welcome. No mocking, skill shaming, or belittling someone for their question, budget, or tools.
- Explain without attacking. Correct methods and ideas constructively. Respectful disagreement and honest criticism of a product are welcome.
- No hate, harassment, threats, or discrimination. Do not target people or groups, impersonate another member, or share private information.
- Help people learn. Keep contributions relevant. Explain your reasoning, acknowledge uncertainty, distinguish observations from guesses, and share what happened afterward.
- Attach products from the TE VIDEOS catalog. No outside shopping links, affiliate promotion, scams, spam, or unsolicited selling. Request a missing tool so TE VIDEOS can review and add it.
- Support technical claims. Relevant manuals, service information, and diagnostic evidence links are welcome. Confirm specifications and fitment for the exact vehicle and application.
- Protect privacy. Keep customer identities, contact details, license plates, full VINs, and other private information out of posts and evidence.
- Report instead of escalating. Use the Report action on the message that concerns you. Reporter identities are private. A report requests a review; it does not automatically remove a message.
Reports are reviewed in context. TE VIDEOS may hide or restore content, warn a member, restrict posting temporarily, or suspend posting for serious or repeated violations. A missing detail or a beginner question is not a rule violation. Do not misuse reports to silence respectful disagreement.
What counts as a verified fix?
A completed repair is not automatically a verified fix. Useful repair updates stay with their original conversation. A reviewed record needs enough vehicle context, the concern, cause, correction, repeat-test evidence, and follow-up to assess what was actually confirmed. A TE VIDEOS editor reviews those details before it is counted.
Counts show individual reviewed records for this resource. They are not a success rate or a prediction for another vehicle. Self-reported, unresolved, still-testing, and recurring issues remain separate. Editing an outcome removes its verification until another review. One contributor can maintain one outcome per exact vehicle description on a resource; this is not VIN-based vehicle identification or an independently audited vehicle count.
Contributor badges
TE VIDEOS · Creator identifies the site editor. Reviewed contributor means TE VIDEOS has reviewed that member’s contribution history. It is not a professional certification and does not verify each answer. Experience labels are self-described. A helpful vote is appreciation, not proof.
Sources and repair information
Creator case notes describe the filmed or reported vehicle. A model reference does not establish exact fitment. When a reviewed specification is unavailable, the page says so. Confirm the exact configuration using applicable service information before performing work.
Tools, gifted products, and affiliate links
Product links to Amazon, Acme Tools, and participating direct brands may earn TE VIDEOS a commission. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Gifted products and known commercial relationships are disclosed alongside the relevant content. Store collections are labeled as collections. Check current coupon eligibility and product fitment with the seller. Sponsorship and commissions do not grant repair verification.
Your information
TE VIDEOS is open to visitors. Studio controls and private analytics are reserved for the site owner. Creating a profile stores a handle, display name, self-described experience, salted password hash, and account timestamps. Signing in uses an HTTP-only session cookie. No email address is collected by the community forms. New profiles receive a one-use recovery code; existing members can create one from their profile by confirming their password. Only the code hash is stored. A recovery reset invalidates the code and signs out every existing session. Save your handle and code privately; there is no automatic recovery if both the password and code are lost. Owner Studio access is attached to the authorized owner account.
Conversations, replies, optional vehicle details, catalog product attachments, evidence URLs, repair updates, moderation reports, and moderation history are stored on the server. Reports and moderation history are private to the site owner. Warnings and posting-restriction notices are shared with the affected member. Reporter identities are not displayed to other members. Conversation follows and in-site notification read states are stored with your account. Names and contribution labels appear with posts. Saved resources stay in this browser’s local storage. YouTube players load when requested; the FYB feed may attempt muted autoplay. Thumbnails may load from YouTube’s image service. YouTube and linked shops operate under their own policies.
First-party analytics store daily aggregate counts of visits, page views, broad traffic sources, device types, category selections and actions such as searches, saves and shopping-link clicks. These counts do not store visitor identifiers, IP addresses, full referrer URLs or search terms. A temporary browser timestamp estimates a new visit after about 30 minutes without activity; no visitor identifier is sent. Signed-in owner activity, private pages and recognized bots are excluded. Measurement respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. No third-party marketing analytics or mailing-list signup is installed. Hosting request logs and temporary hashed rate-limit keys support operation and abuse prevention. Expired session records are removed during sign-in. Community records remain until the site owner removes them; ask TE VIDEOS for account or contribution deletion. Backups are restricted to the site editor and do not contain password hashes or session tokens.
Private site feedback
The Help shape TE VIDEOS form works without a community account. It stores your submitted answers and optional vehicle and experience details. You can choose whether to include the resource or search details displayed on the form. Feedback and review notes are visible only to the site editor, and are included in private backups. They are not posted to discussions.
Feedback summaries count submitted responses, not unique visitors or all searches. No search terms are automatically sent for analytics. Please do not include personal or customer information. Feedback remains until the owner deletes it; contact TE VIDEOS if you want a submission removed.

Automotive backgrounds & answer sources
Your profile can include your experience level, years working on vehicles, brands, specialties and certifications or training. These fields are optional and self-reported. TE VIDEOS has not independently verified these credentials. Edit or clear them from your garage profile at any time. Do not include certificate numbers, contact details or employer locations.
For a question about a video, the video connection is included automatically. Add details about your own vehicle, symptoms, codes, or tests only when they help explain your situation. When answering, explain your reasoning and identify whether it comes from hands-on experience, service information, training, another source or a proposed next test. Cite a manual and section if there is no public link. Keep specifications tied to the exact vehicle and application.
A helpful vote or contributor badge does not verify a certification, diagnosis or repair. Only repair outcomes reviewed under our verification criteria receive a verified-fix label. General garage questions are visible alongside the author's public profile details. An answer is not guaranteed.
